Early Settlers in America

Hi Everyone,

My Dad and I are doing a project on America. This is a video I found on youtube. I hope you find the video interesting.

I found out that the Early European settlers called the native americans (the people who already lived there) savages :-( That is very wrong. European settlers also brought in the slave trade to America. There was a group of settlers who were called The Jamestown Settlers. They found that some places on the east coast of America which were not inhabited by native americans. They were happy that they had found a place to live on their own. The only problem was is that the native americans had not settled in the specific places because of the bad conditions like swamps, mosquitoes and bad soil for growing crops. There were 500 settlers that came to the east coast of America but during the years of living there 439 of them died from Malaria and other causes. So there were 61 people left :-(

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have not been on here in a long while. Well anyway I have been very busy. My mum, dad and I went to Portugal for Christmas and enjoyed ourselves alot. It wasn't the best of weather but the day before we came home, guess what, it was bright sunshine and we were sun bathing. We stayed at some apartments and chose self catering . There were about 6 swimming pools in the resort and the one we were next too was absolutely freezing!! So my dad and I tried to go in it but I went blue because it was so cold. Even the sea was warmer than the swimming pool!!! Well I hope you all had a great Christmas holiday and a fantastic New Year.

Badman Review - Home educators respond in song

Hi Everyone,

Some people may have heard about the Badman Review on Home Education. Well as a home educator I do not think the review was truthful at all. A complete waste of government money in my opinion. Anyway we are standing against it and some time ago lots of groups of home educators got together in different places and sang the song 'Another Brick in the Wall' but with different lyrics. Here is the final video.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on here for a long while so I am going to give you an update. Well, Aaron our dog broke his leg as you know and he had an operation to put a metal plate in. He then had another operation to take the metal plate out. His leg has not fully recovered because he will not leave it alone if it is not bandaged up. At last we have been able to take the bandage off and he will leave it alone!!

Well apart from that a lot of things have been happening. Earlier on in my blog I said that one of guinea pigs had died and now I have one left. So we have decided to get one or two rabbits, and we are going to see them tomorrow (Sat 26 Sept). I am so excited!!

Okay, we have chosen a black and white boy rabbit and we will be getting him in a week!! Any suggestions for names are welcome. We have decided a name and it is Pepper!!

I haven't been on here for a long time! Well here is the news. Before we came to India I took my grade 5 piano exam. My dad texted my mum and I to tell me that I had got a distinction!! 136. I am so happy.

STOP DISCRIMINATING AGAINST HOME EDUCATORS!

We have had enough 0f all the discrimination against Home educators. Ofsted and LA officers know NOTHING about HE. They have no right to come and inspect. All the reveiws that are coming out are PURE speculation. Thery are making the words up. I am so annoyed and angry about this situation. This is the last straw! Enough is Enough..... ;-(

Lots of tidying up to do!

Hi everyone,

My mum and I have been busy getting the house ready for some friends to come over for the weekend! They are coming today and we have been running around getting things ready, but for all the work we will have great fun spending time with them........ great to have friends. Gets us moving!

In the end they didn't come because two of them where ill. But still have a great weekend.

Thunderstorms and power cut :-(

We have had a good week of sunshine and belive it or not we had a huge thunderstorm, REALLY CLOSE, yesterday (7/06/09 sunday) and a power cut for about an hour. Well, well, well. It wasn't too good. I was scared about the noise the thunder made and I really thought the house was shaking and it probably was :-< Mum and dad looked after me and then I was okay. But what a sudden change in the wether. It was predicted though so I have nothing to complain about....

Lots of tears

Hi Everyone

My mum and I have had lots of tears today. One of my guinea pigs has died. We think she died overnight. We always knew she was the weaker one and she had suffered from two episodes of pneumonia. She had recovered from them well but her system was just a little bit weaker every time. We are so sad. I am going to make a video in memory of her. She is now at peace.

Summer is here!!

Hi Everyone.

I haven't been on here in a while so I thought I would post something!
Hooray, summer is here! We have been outside all day..... sunbathing and sleeping. It has been so hot and sunny! My mum got a gazebo yesterday (Friday 29/05/09) and we have loved sitting under it today! I hope the weather will stay like this.

Aaron's accident

The day after Aaron's 3rd birthday he had an incident. My dad and I were taking a jog with Aaron. Aaron was running in a field when he disappeared down a deep dyke. We knew something was up because he didn't appear from the dyke. So my dad went over the field and went down the dyke where we saw Aaron disappear. Dad found Aaron sitting on the side of the dyke looking woebegone. My dad had to carry Aaron in his arms all the way home. When we got home we went straight to the vet and the vet said they had to keep him in that night to do an x-ray. The x-ray said that it was a bad break. At the moment he has a splint on. Tomorrow we will go for another appointment at the vet. Praying that there will be wisdom for the vet because we want the right decision to be made. We are trusting for a miracle. Jesus loves even the smallest animals so if he loves them he is sure to love the big animals too! I will keep you updated on Aaron.

We had another appointment today ( Sat 28th Feb ) and Aaron is going to have an operation on Wednesday. In the afternoon today ( Sat 28th Feb ) we went back to the vet as we found a red spreading bruise. At first we didn't know it was a bruise but when we got to the vet, the vet was not worried as he knew it was a bruise.

Another Surprise!!

It is soon my birthday and we are going to Birmingham, my home town, for it. We are going to a wedding before. I have a surprise on my birthday and I can't wait to know what it is!!!!

I will put pictures about what we did and I will tell you as soon as I can what the surprise is. Have a great rest of the summer!!!!!!

We went to legoland with my aunt, uncle and cousins. We had a great time. The day after my birthday I went with my aunt, uncle and cousins to an air show and then I went back to their house without my mum and dad.

An anecdote

I work from a Christian curriculum and as part of my work I had to write an anecdote. An anecdote is a short story about a real person and a real thing that happened to that person. This is my anecdote.

I was just getting out of the car door when I trapped two of my fingers in a car door. I screamed very loudly! My Dad thought that I had fallen out of the car and hurt my head. It hurt very much.

We went inside and cleaned it up. Our good friend Bronwen had a very clever bandage and put it on my fingers. One of my fingers was at an angle pointing down at the first knuckle.

I was due to play the violin at a service the day it happened and with my fingers bandaged up I still did. I was probably worried that I wouldn't be able to play the violin.

Now I have my finger in a splint and the other finger is growing a new nail! Near the end of July I am going to Derby for the second time for a checkup. Derby Hospital was the place I had my splint put on. I know that God will heal my finger.

An update on my finger. It has healed though it is still wide at the knucle, but I am using it fully.

Surprise!

I have a planned surprise waiting for me on Wednesday. I am looking forward to it and know one thing and that is that we are going on a train. Can't wait till tomorrow. I am a little bit under the weather and I hope I will be better for this surprise! I will tell you when I find out what it is!

My Europe Project

I am Starting a new project about Europe. I am doing it with my dad. I have found things about three different capitals. The three capitals are Paris, Helsinki and Athens. One of them I am desperate to see, that one is Paris. I have been to France once but never been to Paris. I think we are going before Christmas. This is so exciting!!!!
