I found out that the Early European settlers called the native americans (the people who already lived there) savages :-( That is very wrong. European settlers also brought in the slave trade to America. There was a group of settlers who were called The Jamestown Settlers. They found that some places on the east coast of America which were not inhabited by native americans. They were happy that they had found a place to live on their own. The only problem was is that the native americans had not settled in the specific places because of the bad conditions like swamps, mosquitoes and bad soil for growing crops. There were 500 settlers that came to the east coast of America but during the years of living there 439 of them died from Malaria and other causes. So there were 61 people left :-(
